Getting dramatic: BSC and (virtual) PMP
Updated: Oct 9, 2020
Barrington Stage Company (Pittsfield) is back with exciting work for young people in North Adams and Pittsfield with their famous Playwright Mentoring Project (PMP)! Over the course of six months, PMP participants meet weekly to play improv games, do storytelling, and make theatre. The groups are led by an Artistic Mentor, two Peer Mentors, and with the help of a Playwright Mentor, groups create original plays based on stories and experiences from their own lives that are performed for the public at the end of the program. PMP has been running for 21 years and through the opportunity to look at life through a performing arts lens, participating students have found a place in their communities where they feel supported, fearless, and have a space to be honest about who they are. This year, PMP will begin online, and students will have the chance to experience virtual theatre-making. We are excited to see their work adapt to the digital landscape of 2020!
